We got to London on Monday afternoon at around 4pm. It had been a long day so we immediately headed out to visit a local pub! It was packed – and it was only a Monday afternoon. Wouldn’t like to see it on a Friday! We had dinner at an Indian restaurant – there are many around this area – and headed back to the hotel to rest. We are located in Kensington which is very handy to the city, only around 20 minutes on the bus and we are thinking would be around 10 minutes on the train.

The next day we got up and decided to do a tour on the local sightseeing bus. The bus stop is right outside the front door so very convenient. Our first stop was Leicester Square as we had seen an advertisement for cheap theatre tickets. We lined up for around half an hour and scored tickets to ‘We Will Rock You’ for that night for $30 pound each when regular price was over $60 so we were happy with this. We got back on the bus and it took us around all the highlights of the city – War Memorial, Buckingham Palace, St Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Parliament House, Big Ben and the London Bridge. At London Bridge we got off the bus and walked down to the pier and took the river cruise. Some great shots from here as well.

We finished the bus tour back at Leicester Square where we had a bite to eat. We then decided to go back to the hotel to get some rest before the theatre.

The musical was fantastic – all Queen songs and felt more like a rock concert than a musical. We both really enjoyed it. We got back to the hotel about 11pm exhausted!

Today, we again got on the bus and first stop was Harrods. Fantastic shopping if you are a millionaire – everything seems to be double or triple the price. I was in the bargain bins, looking at scarves which were on sale at $80 pounds – so more than double that to get Aussie dollars!! Ended up just buying some souvenirs.

We got back on the bus and headed back to the Soho area where the theatre was last night. Went for a bit of a walk and ended up having lunch at a nice restaurant on Shaftesbury Avenue. We walked back to Leicester Square and headed back to the hotel.

We have had a little siesta now and about to head back out to the local pubs to taste a few local beverages!! and to have tea.

We are having a fabulous time and we wish it would never end.

Lots of love,

Lara & Luke.
